Direct Debit Indemnity Claim is a claim submitted by you where a Direct Debit has been collected from your account when it should not have been for a variety of reasons.
The most common reasons for a claim are:
- Unauthorised payment value
- Incorrect payment date
- Unknown merchant
- Cancelled contract with the merchant
Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme
The Direct Debit guarantee scheme allows a consumer to request a refund of a Direct Debit if the reason for the claim meets a certain criteria
In the event that an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, simply contact us by sending us a secure message via your app (make sure you’re on the latest app version) detailing you want to 'Log a Direct Debit Indemnity'.
Countingbot, our digital assistant, will then collect some details from you to make it easier to process your claim.
Things to remember
- In some cases, we may require further information to ascertain the nature of the error and confirm that an error has indeed occurred.
- If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when the organisation asks you to.
- DDIC cannot be used to address contractual disputes between you and the billing organisation.
- If the merchant was to counterclaim and provide evidence that the payment was valid, depending on the strength of the evidence supplied by both parties we could be obliged to remove the funds from your account if it turns out no error was made.
