What happens if I prepare a VAT return with Countingup but I submit it with another accounting software?
To use your Countingup client's VAT return information via another accounting software you will need to manually enter boxes 1 to 9 data into the other software.
If you have filed your Countingup client’s VAT return successfully via another software provider, next time you view your client’s VAT returns in the Countingup Accountant Hub:
- The VAT return filed with the other accounting software will appear in the list of submitted returns with the data coming from HMRC.
- The draft VAT return you previously saved will be cancelled.
What happens if I submit a VAT return with an accounting software other than Countingup and then submit the following VAT return via the Countingup software?
- We will assume that any outstanding late claims have been accounted for within the submissions made via the external accounting software.
- We only consider late claims from VAT returns submitted via Countingup. The VAT return generated via Countingup, following a VAT return submitted by another software, will not include late claims from any previous periods. You will need to create journals to account for any adjustments that will impact the current open VAT return period.
