When you give your accountant secure access to your account, they receive a read-only view of your business financials. They can look at your transactions, invoices, and reports to manage your bookkeeping, but they cannot move money or make any changes to your account. It completely removes the need to manually send screenshots or statements, saving you time and keeping your records secure. 🔐
Here is a detailed breakdown of what your accountant can see from their view:
Business information
Your business name, email address, and phone number.
Your registered personal address and specific business type.
Your current VAT status.
Transactions
Every incoming and outgoing transaction on your account.
All attached receipts, custom notes, and transaction categories.
Any credit notes and unmatched payments.
Invoices and bills
All of your created sales invoices and uploaded bills.
The live payment status of what has been settled and what is still outstanding.
Financial reports
Your main accounting documents, including your Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet.
Your Trial Balance records.
Accounting journals
Any manual journal entries added directly by your accountant.
The historical data showing how past payments were matched to specific invoices.
MTD VAT tracking
If you have authorised your accountant to file VAT returns on your behalf, they can submit Making Tax Digital (MTD) VAT returns directly through the app. To do this, your accountant will simply need to link using their own official HMRC Agent Services account.
🔒 Note: Your accountant has view-only access. They can never move your money, authorise payments, or make changes to your profile settings.
