Confirmation of Payee is a name-checking service that helps make sure your payments go to the right person or business. When someone sends you money, their bank will check that the name they've entered matches the legal name on your business account. This gives both you and the sender extra peace of mind and helps prevent payments from being sent to the wrong account. 🔐
Why does a different bank name appear?
When someone sets you up as a new payee, their bank may show the name of our regulated payment provider rather than the name of the app. This is because they hold the licence for your account.
Depending on when you joined us, the bank name will show as either:
Prepay Technologies Ltd (sometimes shown as PPS)
Griffin Bank Ltd
If a sender sees one of these names, they can safely proceed with the payment. 🏦
How it works
When someone sends you money for the first time, they will see one of three results after entering your details:
Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Match | The name and details match perfectly. The sender can proceed safely. |
| Close Match | The name is similar but not exact. The sender will be asked to double-check. |
| No Match | The name doesn't match. The sender will be advised to confirm the details before paying. |
How to ensure a match every time
To make sure payments reach you smoothly, follow these tips:
Share your exact name: Use the full name registered to your account (no nicknames or abbreviations). For sole traders, this will be your full name. You can always double check by tapping the 👤 in the top left-hand corner and then tapping "Business Details".
Select 'Business': Remind the sender to choose Business (not 'Personal') when they are setting you up as a new payee.
Can I opt out? ❌
All users are automatically opted into the Confirmation of Payee service to keep accounts secure. However, if you wish to opt out, you can do so by sending us a secure message via the app.
Please keep in mind that if you opt out, anyone trying to pay you will receive a message saying "the account is not supported" rather than a match result, which may cause them to hesitate before sending the funds.
