If your sort code is 23-69-72, we are upgrading your Countingup business account over the next few months. This upgrade gives you access to extra features, including interest on tax savings and higher account limits. On your switch date, your balance, bookkeeping data, tax information, and Direct Debits will move automatically. You do not need to take any manual action right now. We will email you before your move happens to confirm your exact switch date and share everything you need to know. Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions. If you need any extra help, please reach out to our support team directly through the app.
What new features are available with the Griffin-powered account?
FSCS protection: Eligible deposits are protected up to £120,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Earn interest on your Tax Pot: Earn 1.2% AER (variable) interest on your Tax Pot balance.
Mastercard Business Bonus: Gain access to exclusive perks through the Mastercard Business Bonus scheme.
Apple Pay and Google Pay: Digital wallet integration is coming soon.
Am I eligible for the new account?
To automatically switch to the upgraded account, you must meet at least one of these criteria close to your switch date:
Hold an account balance above £0.
Hold a £0 balance, but have made an outgoing payment (card transaction or Faster Payment) in the last 2 months.
Your account must also be in good standing on your switch date. An account in good standing is active, fully verified, and operating normally without active security holds, fraud reviews, or unauthorised negative balances.
If your account is not in good standing on the switch date, we will work with you to clear any restrictions so we can proceed with your upgrade. We reserve the right to refuse transfer if account information does not meet regulatory requirements.
What happens on my switch date?
Your entire account history and data will move over automatically with zero interruption. This includes your account balance, receipts, transaction history, bookkeeping data, tax information, and saved invoices.
New account details and card: You will receive a new sort code, a new 8-digit account number, and a new physical debit card to activate in the app.
Automatic payment forwarding: Inbound Faster Payments sent to your old account details will automatically forward to your new account for 3 years.
Direct Debits: Existing Direct Debits will automatically re-route to your new account.
Card subscriptions: These will not update automatically. You must provide your new card details directly to your service providers.
-
Business verification check: You may be asked to quickly confirm minor details in the app, such as tax residency, before the switch completes.

What should I do with my old EPS card when the new card arrives?
Your old EPS card will remain active until your switch date or until you activate your new Griffin card in the app, whichever comes first. Once your new card is active, cut through the magnetic strip and chip on your old card and dispose of it securely.
Will my sort code and account number stay the same?
No. Moving to our new banking partner means your sort code will change to 04-36-15, and you will receive a new 8-digit account number. You must share these new details with clients who pay you by manual bank transfer. Invoices generated within the Countingup app will automatically update with your new account details on your switch date.
What happens to pending inbound payments or invoices sent with old details?
Thanks to automatic payment forwarding, any Faster Payments sent to your old sort code (23-69-72) and account number will automatically redirect into your new account for up to 3 years. While in-app invoice templates update automatically, we recommend updating your payment details anywhere else they are displayed, such as external invoice templates or your website.
Will my standing orders transfer automatically like Direct Debits?
No. Direct Debits transfer automatically, but outgoing standing orders (scheduled recurring payments you set up yourself) will not. You will need to recreate these in the app under your new account once the switch is complete.
Will my account and transfer limits change?
Yes. Upgraded accounts offer increased transfer, ATM withdrawal, and daily account limits. You can review the full limit breakdowns for Limited Companies and Sole Traders in our Help Centre.
Will my historical bank statements remain available?
Yes. Your complete transaction history, exportable PDF statements, categorised tax records, and attached receipts carry over completely. You will retain full access for your Self Assessment and VAT returns.
Do I need to reconnect my HMRC or accounting links?
No action is required. Your internal Countingup tax settings, HMRC connections, and Accountant Hub access permissions will continue without interruption.
What happens if my balance is £0 and I have not used my account in two months?
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria near your switch date, your account will not automatically migrate, and your existing EPS account will eventually close. We will send you a separate notification with clear instructions on how to reactivate your account if you want to keep using Countingup.
I run multiple businesses with Countingup. Will all accounts move on the same date?
Not necessarily. Switch dates are managed on an account-by-account basis. Please check your registered email address for individual switch notifications for each business profile you hold with us.
