Your ongoing regular payments and inbound transfers transfer over automatically, with two specific exceptions for card subscriptions and last-minute Direct Debits.
Direct Debits and scheduled payments
Direct Debits: Existing Direct Debits automatically transfer to your new sort code and account number. Important: Please avoid setting up any new Direct Debit mandates within 24 hours of your switch date, as they will not be captured in the automatic migration window.
Scheduled payments: Any regular scheduled outgoing bank transfers you have set up in the app will carry over automatically.
Saved payees: All existing payees remain saved in your app and will be ready to use immediately on your new account.
Debit cards and recurring card payments
Your old card: Your old card will be blocked automatically shortly after midnight on your switch date. Once blocked, cut through the chip and magnetic strip and dispose of it safely.
Your new card: Activate your new card in the Countingup app as soon as your switch date arrives.
Card subscriptions: Recurring debit card payments (such as software subscriptions, digital tools, or advertising platforms) will not transfer automatically. You must update these service providers directly with your new debit card details once activated.
Inbound payments
Faster Payments: Any payments sent to your old account details will automatically redirect to your new account for up to 3 years.
CHAPS: CHAPS transfers are not redirected automatically. Please provide your new account details directly to anyone paying you via CHAPS.
