Your company is registered and your Countingup account is open. Now that you’re officially a business owner, here’s a quick roadmap of what to expect in the coming weeks.
Watch the post 📮
While we handle the digital side, HMRC and Companies House still love a bit of traditional mail. Keep an eye out for:
Your UTR Number: HMRC will post your Unique Taxpayer Reference. Keep this very safe! You’ll need it for everything to do with your taxes.
Authentication Code: Companies House will send a code to your registered office address. This acts like a password for your company if you ever need to change your details online.
Activate your card 💳
Your shiny new Countingup Mastercard is on its way. Once it arrives:
Pop into the app to activate it.
Remember our £100 cashback offer! Spend £100 on your card within the first 30 days, and we’ll refund your registration deposit.
Register for taxes
Now that you're trading, you have a few appointments with HMRC:
Corporation Tax: You must tell HMRC your company is active within 3 months of starting to trade.
VAT: You only need to register for VAT if your turnover goes over £90,000, but you can choose to do it sooner if it suits your business.
4. Share your details
You can find your Account Number and Sort Code right on the home screen of your Countingup app. You’re all set to send your first invoice and start getting paid! 💸
