To get your business account open, we’re legally required to confirm where you live. Usually, we can do this automatically during your application, but if we can’t, we’ll ask you to upload a document in the app to verify your home address. 🏠
Most users who provide a clear, valid document receive an update on their application within the same business day.
Documents we accept
The easiest way to verify your address is by uploading a PDF directly in the app. You can also take a photo of the original printed version. We accept the following documents:
Financial statements: These include statements from a high street bank, building society, or credit card provider.
Utility bills: We accept gas, electricity, or water bills.
Government and council letters: This includes council tax bills (for the current tax year), NHS appointment letters, or correspondence from the DWP or HMRC.
Insurance and vehicle documents: We accept home or contents insurance policies and V5C vehicle registration documents (all pages).
Note: We can only accept a driving licence as proof of address if you used a different document, such as a passport, for your photo ID earlier in the application.
What your document must show ⚠️
Before you upload your file, please double-check that it meets these requirements to avoid any delays:
Your name: The document must be addressed to you personally, not to your business or "The Occupier".
Current address: The document must clearly show your current home address, and it must match the one you entered in your application.
Recent date: It must have been issued in the last six months (unless it's a council tax bill for the current tax year).
Language: The document must be written in English.
Uploading your document
In the app, simply follow the prompts to take a photo or upload your PDF. If your document doesn't meet the requirements above, we won't be able to accept it, and you’ll need to start the upload process again.
The sooner we verify your address, the quicker we can get your business account up and running. 🚀
