When you apply for an account for a limited company, we’re required to verify any Person of Significant Control (PSC). A PSC is usually a director or shareholder who owns more than 25% of the business.
During your application, we’ll attempt to verify this information automatically. If we can’t find a record right away, we’ll reach out to ask for more info to get you set up. 🥳 Most applications involving multiple directors are processed within the same business day, provided all information is accurate.
How the verification process works
If your business has a second director or PSC, they must complete their own identity and address checks. To keep your application moving:
Enter their details: Input the second director's information in the app when prompted.
Automatic check: Our system will attempt to verify them instantly.
Manual upload: If we need more info, we’ll ask you to provide a valid photo ID and proof of address for them.
What documents might a PSC need?
If manual verification is required, you’ll need to upload two specific types of proof in the app:
Proof of Identity (ID) 🛂: A photo of an original, physical document. We accept a valid passport, UK driving licence, or European ID card.
Proof of Address (POA) 🏠: A document issued in the last three months showing their name and home address. This includes utility bills (gas, electricity, or water), financial statements, or government letters (HMRC, DWP, or Council Tax).
Note: A PSC cannot use a driving licence as proof of address if they have already used it as their proof of identity for the application.
Why we verify every PSC
As a regulated financial service, we must verify everyone with significant control over the business. This helps us protect your account and ensures we meet UK legal requirements. 🛡️
Account access and cards
While we verify all directors, it’s important to know how the account is managed day-to-day:
Single-user access: The account must only be operated by you, the primary applicant.
No joint accounts: We don't currently offer joint accounts or multi-user access. 👤
Single card: We provide one card per account. We’re unable to provide multiple cards for other directors or employees at this time.
